Dark Web: A Brief Introduction.

The Dark web is kind of websites that uses .onion domain, gives you 100% anonymity and accessible only with browser called tor browser.


WHY IS IT CALLED DARK WEB?

In 2015 over a five-week period researchers Thomas Rid and Daniel Moore from King's College in London analyses the contents of 2,723 live dark web sites and found that 57% host illicit material. You can buy guns, illegal drugs, stolen subscription username and password like Netflix, amazon prime, hulu accounts and malware software that helps you hack other people’s computer. You also can hire hackers to do any kind of online illegal stuff.

Obviously not all sites are illicit. for example wikileaks upload the original wikileaks where you can leak any document anonymously.

IS IT LEGAL TO USE DARK WEB?

It is not illegal to use dark net, However it provides access to many illegal stuff. Website on dark web uses encryption to provide anonymity, thus it is difficult to trace. Dark web uses Tor Encryption Tool to encrypt the data.

 

WHO CREATED THE DARK WEB?

The dark web was initially created by the US government to allow spies to exchange data completely anonymously. US military researchers developed the technology, commonly known as Tor in the mid-1990s and released it into the public domain for everyone to use.

DEEP VS DARK WEB: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

Deep sites are refereed anything on internet which are indexed, means you can not find deep sites on search engine like google,yahoo. Medical records, confidential corporate web pages, membership websites etc. estimated size of deep web is between 96% to 99% of the internet. the remaining tiny portion of the web is called "clear web".

dark web are subset of the deep web which is hidden, has .onion domain  and only can accessible by the browser called tor.
